CONSIDERATIONS FOR SPAY AND NEUTER
CONSIDERATIONS FOR SPAY AND NEUTER
Many people buying a new puppy will be faced with the decision to spay or neuter.  Most Veterinarians recommend puppies be spayed or neutered between 4 and 6 months of age.  Many breeds of dogs are sexually mature by 6 months of age, thus being the reason behind most Veterinarian's recommendation.  They are simply trying prevent any unwanted pregnancies and help reduce the number of unwanted shelter pets.

After much research myself, I have decided to place an appropriate time frame for spay and neuter of puppies under my guarantee contract.  Below I have posted some informational links to help you understand the health risks and benefits of early spay and neuter of puppies.   It is my belief that the risks of early spay and neuter far exceed the benefits.

My guarantee states 10 to 12 months to spay a female and 12 months or older for males.  Full maturity before alteration is the key to optimal health.
